I just took a look at the summary of the Garden Writers Association 2009 Summer Gardening Trends Research Report, and an interesting common theme popped out. It appears that a growing concern about water conservation is fueling multiple trends. One third of consumers surveyed reported that they plan to use more mulch. One half plan to use drip irrigation or drought tolerant plants. And one of the top reasons given for the popularity in container gardening was ease of watering.
Clearly, water conservation is a key point to focus on in both your product mix and marketing materials during the coming year.

Val,
Good condensed article. Our business has done very well in the 2008-2009 poor economic times. Besides water, our systems will save a person alot of time tending and weeding, produce better yields and more beutiful flowers, and make back the investment over the life of the products.
I hope this note finds you well. Perhaps we’ll see you at MGA during the summer.

Glad to hear you’re doing well, Leon. You certainly offer a money and time saving solution. Missed you, Lisa and Cathie at the MGA conference this week. Hope to see you in the summer!
