How Do Your Website Priorities Compare?

It’s becoming easier and easier for smaller companies to find online service providers that fit their budget. As that happens, website priorities shift. A recent study by Forrester Research and Shop.org reported that online retailers with sales under $10 million ranked the following as top website priorities for 2009:

Site search/browse results: 84%
Checkout process redesign: 75%
Improved content on product detail pages: 70%
Home page: 48%
Redesigned  help section/FAQs: 28%

If your site search and shopping cart are costing you sales, it may be time to consider some important website modifications.

FYI, it’s really simple to implement Google’s custom search on your web site, and it’s free.

The best part is that it works better than most solutions that you would pay for.

Any programmer could implement it in less than an hour, if you aren’t capable of doing it yourself.

(This from someone who is using the built in search that comes from my shopping cart. But at least I know what I should be doing, right?)

Good point – thanks for mentioning it! Yet another gift from Google.
